The day I drop my hat

As a woman, we wear multiple hats trying to balance many things, manage different roles, and constantly juggling to strike the right balance - the term these days stretched in and out - work-life balance.

And even when we are trying our best, at times we feel like we are not doing enough.

Yet, we strive to excel in our careers, nurture relationships, and maintain a sense of personal fulfillment.

And while we try to tick off the endless to-do lists each day, sometimes it gets overwhelming. And probably a little more so when there are pre-conceived notions attached to women.

What if the hats we are wearing are not the correct ones? At times, the hats we wear aren't just the roles we play in life, but also those that define us as a person. The hats that make us feel guilty, inadequate, and not right.

At times, we carry the weight of others' opinions and expectations, and fail to be our true selves.

What if, in our efforts to conform to societal norms, we trade our feminine energy for something else - something that's more rigid, suppressing our natural strengths and abilities?

It's time to take a step back and reassess. Let’s recognize the hats that no longer serve us, the ones that stifle our growth and diminish our light. Let's identify the roles, expectations, people, and pressures that are holding us back and choose to drop them.

Let’s embrace our feminine energy, and celebrate our strengths, kindness and our spirit to build and nourish.

To know that it's okay not being perfect. Let's trust that we are doing the right thing, we are enough, and our uniqueness is beautiful.

Remember, as Brene Brown said,

"Let go of who you think you're supposed to be; embrace who you are."

Let's choose to wear hats that make us feel good and surround ourselves with people, experiences, and energies that make us feel confident, beautiful, and strong.

A reminder that we don’t have to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. We can choose to let go, breathe, and just be. Prioritizing our own well-being and celebrating us, with our beauty, and all imperfections.

And lastly, we know that a woman can achieve anything she sets her heart to! As stated by Jacqueline in The Bold Type series,

"I expect you to unleash the holy hell on anybody who tries to hold you back."

IWD 2025 campaign theme is 'Accelerate Action' for a world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive.

Happy International Women's Day!

Embrace your femininity and keep growing!

Yours truly,

Swati
